| About me |
I know what it is like to learn a new language. I went to a year of college in Denmark without knowing how to speak Danish, but I finished the year, fluent in the language. I am very patient with my students, and yet I expect a lot from them.
I have been teaching for almost 20 years. I started as an elementary school teacher, then for 15 years I taught business skills to adults. I have taught writing, am a professional public speaker and curriculum designer. I am also an adventuresome person, having lived abroad before, and having learned a lot along the way to the age of 54.
I am responsible, dependable, organized, excited, and I will give myself to this opportunity. I have a great many skills that will translate well to an ESL classroom. I look forward to learning and living the Korean culture. My friend Deborah Attewell is currently working with you and has just signed on for another year. She and I worked together when I was an Executive of a summer camp at which she was a counselor. She will tell you that I am excited and ready to begin teaching in Korea!
As far as my personal life, I two grown children and am proud of the adult human beings they have become. I have always enjoyed working with children of all ages. I would do well teaching younger children, and I would also do very well with high school or college aged Korean students. I am a professional freelance writer and author and know the mechanics of the English language well. If students want to develop their conversational abilities, or learn to read and write, I am well equipped to assist them. I am also willing to offer additional classes after school if that is part of your system. Maybe an English Club?
I was the "top student" in my ESL language training and got a perfect score on my project. I am a quiet and modest person, but I wanted to tell you these things so that you know whom you would be hiring.
